Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience. We do this by working with local actors to develop safe and inclusive local programming that is evidence based, conflict sensitive, climate smart, and reaches those in need. Relief International is an alliance of four organizations with one shared mission, comprised of Relief International, Inc., Relief International-France, Relief International-UK and Relief International-Europe, which operate under a one-team concept under a single senior leadership team. Job Profile The Health and Nutrition Assistant is responsible for supporting the implementation of project activities in nutrition and health. She/he will be involved in training, supervising, and assisting community health and nutrition field staff to ensure the best possible nutrition and health services are delivered to targeted beneficiaries. She/he will work in constant collaboration with RI Health and Nutrition officers, Project Coordinator Health and Nutrition, local authorities and community members in order to share nutrition/health issues so as to improve/promote the nutrition/health of the vulnerable groups from the targeted communities. Key responsibilities The “Health and Nutrition Assistant” will be responsible but not limited to: Work closely with the team to ensure all children in the nutrition program receive care and treatment in accordance with MoPHP and nutrition cluster guidelines/protocol, including being weighed, measured, registered and referred correctly and receive food/treatment according to the national protocol Supervise health activities in the supported communities and awareness-raising activities particularly on health, nutrition and hygiene practices. Provide supportive supervision visits for CHWs and CHVs working in coordination with Health and Nutrition Officer. Support regular community-based identification of malnutrition cases through screening for children 6-59 months, pregnant and lactating women and referral to RI HF, and follow-up on defaulters. Ensure proper registration patients at community including ongoing monitoring on patients. In collaboration with MoPHP, organize training for community-based workers, mobile teams and to provide on-the-job support for both Health and Nutrition activities. Assist the community outreach volunteers in conducting nutrition, health, and hygiene activities in both health facility and community settings, for various target groups. Prepare weekly, biweekly and monthly progress reports and statistical reports for submission to the Health and Nutrition Officer. Train and support the community health & nutrition team in managing paperwork (cards and registration books). Conduct review from the whole documentations of GRN's and donation letters of medical equipment, medical supplies, Medications, wash supplies, furniture, lab solutions, hygiene kits and any items that will be delivered to HF. Follow-up on the process of distribution of hygiene kits (NFI kits) for SAM cases and ensure the distribution process go in correct/smooth process Follow-up on the process of stamping drugs delivered by RI (Free paid). Report any problems in a timely manner to the health and nutrition officer. Ensure timely reporting of activities (narrative and data) in accordance with set deadlines. Collect reporting/data inputs from HFs and community outreach volunteers and compile results weekly. Conduct daily visits to the supported health facilities and outreach teams to monitor the progress of the project activities and report any deviation to the supervisors. Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Direct Supervisor. Essential criteria Diploma in health & nutrition or equivalent; (nursing, midwifery and other medical qualification desirable) from any recognized institution. At least One years of experience in the similar role in health and nutrition projects. Has trained in CMAM/ICCM and experience in working on Nutrition & Health activities. Understanding rights-based approaches and participatory concepts and practical experience in similar context. Ability to communicate and maintain tactful relations with community. Ability to do the capacity building of CHVs, CHWs. Flexible, adaptable, able to improvise and work in stressful environment. Excellent English and Arabic Languages (Writing and speaking) are required. Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
