Job Title: Lawyer Position status: (Full Time) Location: Aden and Al Ribat – Lahj Announcement closing date: 15 Jul 2026 Reporting to: Hierarchical: Project manager, Legal Specialist or Protection Coordinator 1. About INTERSOS INTERSOS is an independent non-profit humanitarian organization committed to assisting the victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. Its activities are based on the principles of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equality of rights and opportunities, and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying special attention to the most vulnerable and unprotected people. 2. Main Objective / Job Summary The lawyer, based in Lahj Al Ribat camp, will provide legal support and assistance (access to documentation, counseling, mediation and representation) in the community center in Aden Dar Sa’ad and in the protection Caravan in Al Ribat camp, with focus on supporting GBV, HLP and access to documentation, provide legal awareness on legal topics including access to documentation/registration and family/civil law issues. The lawyer will support in the facilitation and the follow up with civil authority in issuing the documentations (ID, birth certificates, other). The lawyer reports to the protection activity manager (functional) and legal specialist (technical), while closely working with the case management supervisors. 3. Key Responsibilities Individual legal support: The lawyer receives referrals from different INTERSOS Case Workers for protection cases who are in need of legal assistance. Conduct interviews with cases referred by Case workers to assess legal needs. Provide individual and/or family legal counseling to beneficiaries, in order to orient them and make them aware about the legal procedures available and most suitable for each case. When necessary and desirable provide legal guidance to individuals who are in need of legal protection or other legal support. This service may include only legal advice, but in discussion with the beneficiary, can also include legal representation before courts, or mediation between parties. Maintain confidentiality at all times and conduct all interviews and assessments in a way that is sensitive to the psychosocial needs of the case. Ensure the case has full information regarding his/ her legal rights and also the possible outcomes/ consequences of the case after the presentation in court. Advise safety procedures/ ways to avoid further harm to the case. Legal awareness: He/she will support the community outreach volunteers (COVs) in organizing outreach and awareness on HLP and documentation and IDP related legal issues. Meetings: Attend meetings and workshop/training as requested by case management supervisors and the Activity Coordinator. The Lawyer will attend daily morning meetings with all project staff and will coordinate on weekly basis through internal case management meetings held by the case management supervisors. Ad hoc meetings can be called for to discuss highly urgent cases. Meeting with department of justice, police or any law-imposing agency regarding the case based on the need and necessity. Reporting: With consent of the beneficiaries involved, the consultant will provide a detailed record of the support provided to the beneficiaries: individual case files. On a weekly, the Lawyer will provide the Protection case management supervisors with an overview of the support provided. The lawyer will provide monthly reports to the activities coordinator and reporting that include reporting on legal assistance to individual cases, legal awareness session and overall trends related to the legal-juridical sector. And perform any other tasks requested from the lawyer. Experience and requirements: Technical skills and experience: University degree in law Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with government counterparts & juridical entities Strong representation and negotiation skills Excellent computer skills (proven computer literacy) Native Arabic - written and spoken English is desirable Soft skills: Very strong interpersonal skills: strong communication and diplomatic skills Strong team spirit, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment Excellent analytical skills, observation and analysis capacity Attention to detail and structured way of approaching tasks Ability to plan ahead and output oriented Able to ensure quick quality delivery in stressful environment Ability to adhere to deadlines and respect line management Practical and problem-solver Ability to deal with heavy work pressure Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of INTERSOS
