Communications Officer Aden Position status: (Full Time) Location: Aden Duration: Contingent to funding availability Organization Summary: Yemen Aid is a non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization founded in 2018. It aims to provide a variety of services in various fields of development and humanitarian work. It is non-profit, non-political, and non-religious. It adheres to the principles of humanitarian work and its procedures and operations are subject to Yemeni law. Donor entities have entrusted Yemen Aid with specific resources allocated for humanitarian programs and projects, and the organization is accountable to them for the proper management of these resources. It maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward fraud, corruption, collusion, or any prohibited practices such as exploitation, sexual abuse, or discrimination based on race, religion, geographic origin, political beliefs, gender, disability, or any other condition—whether directly or indirectly. By upholding these principles and values, Yemen Aid requires the same commitment from its employees, collaborators, volunteers, contractors, suppliers, and service providers. It holds them fully accountable for any violations and takes the necessary legal actions when breaches occur. Key Responsibilities and Duties Coordinate with program teams to collect field updates, beneficiary testimonials, interviews, visibility documentation, project achievements, and communication requirements needed for storytelling, donor visibility, reporting, and public communication purposes. Support the documentation of Yemen Aid’s humanitarian and development activities through professional photography and videography during field visits, trainings, workshops, meetings, campaigns, public events, distributions, and project implementation activities while ensuring compliance with safeguarding, informed consent, and ethical storytelling standards. Capture high-quality photographs, videos, interviews, testimonials, and b-roll footage that reflect project impact, beneficiary stories, and program activities for use across social media platforms, reports, donor visibility materials, awareness campaigns, fundraising materials, presentations, and organizational communication products. Edit and produce high-quality video products, including short videos, interviews, event coverage videos, social media reels, awareness videos, donor visibility videos, and storytelling content in accordance with Yemen Aid’s communication objectives, branding standards, and donor requirements. Prepare scripts, captions, subtitles, thumbnails, visual layouts, and supporting multimedia materials for video and photography outputs to ensure professional presentation and audience engagement. Support the development of creative concepts, story ideas, interview questions, and visual storytelling approaches for multimedia communication products and campaigns. Produce, review, edit, and quality-check photography, videography, and multimedia materials to ensure technical quality, consistency, branding alignment, safeguarding compliance, and adherence to donor visibility and marking requirements. Support the Communications Department in preparing multimedia content for publication across Yemen Aid’s digital communication channels, including social media platforms, websites, presentations, and other communication platforms in line with approved communication plans and calendars. Ensure all multimedia products and content outputs align with Yemen Aid’s identity, communication policies, ethical storytelling standards, safeguarding principles, humanitarian values, confidentiality requirements, informed consent procedures, protection considerations, and do-no-harm principles. Maintain and organize a structured digital archive of photographs, raw footage, edited videos, communication products, and consent forms, ensuring all materials are properly labeled, categorized, securely stored, and easily retrievable in accordance with organizational and safeguarding requirements. Support organizational knowledge management through proper media archiving, documentation, visibility tracking, and maintaining records of communication activities and produced multimedia materials. Support communication-related administrative, logistical, reporting, and documentation tasks within the Communications Department, including contributing multimedia inputs to donor reports, presentations, and organizational updates. Continuously enhance professional knowledge and technical skills in photography, videography, video editing, digital storytelling, social media, and multimedia production practices to improve the quality, creativity, and effectiveness of Yemen Aid’s communication outputs. Maintain, organize, and ensure the proper use, care, and safe storage of photography, videography, lighting, audio, and multimedia equipment in accordance with organizational procedures. Perform any other communication-related duties assigned by the line manager. Required Qualifications and Experience Education Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Photography, Videography, Journalism, Multimedia Production, or a related field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications Experience Minimum 3 years of experience in photography, videography, multimedia production, communications, or related fields. Experience with international NGOs and humanitarian or development organizations is preferred. Required Skills and Competencies Strong photography and videography skills, including camera operation, composition, lighting, audio recording, and visual storytelling. Proficiency in photo and video editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, or similar tools, with the ability to produce high-quality multimedia products. Good written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English, including the ability to conduct interviews, collect testimonials, and support storytelling and visibility efforts. Knowledge of donor visibility requirements, branding guidelines, ethical storytelling, safeguarding principles, and informed consent procedures. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
