Job Title: Project Assistant Reports to: Senior Project Officer Department: Program Department Salary Grade: 4 About CRS Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is an international non-profit organization founded in 1943 with over eighty years of experience in humanitarian and development work. CRS supports the world’s most vulnerable communities through multi-sectoral programs focused on health, education, livelihoods, WASH, emergency response, and peacebuilding. In Yemen, CRS works with local partners in Yemen to deliver humanitarian assistance, restore essential services, and strengthen resilient community systems. Since 2018, CRS has expanded its multi-sectoral programs across health, nutrition, education, WASH, livelihoods, emergency response, and disaster risk reduction. Since 2018, CRS Yemen has provided support to more than 500,000 people in the governorates of Aden, Al Dhale'e, Abyan, Hadramawt, and Taiz. Job Summary The Project Assistant will support the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Early Childhood Education (ECE) activities under the Rebuilding Early Childhood Education (RECE) Project in close coordination with the Ministry of Education (MoE), and Governmental Education Offices (GEOs) in Aden, Lahj and Al Dhale’e. The role provides administrative, logistical, and field-level support to ensure high-quality delivery of curriculum related activities, teacher training, mentoring visits, material distribution, and improvements learning environments in targeted kindergartens. The position requires strong coordination with school administrations, teachers, MoE, and GEOs representatives, and community stakeholders to ensure effective, child-centered project implementation. Roles and Key Responsibilities Implements and assists in the planning and implementation of ECE activities in targeted areas in close coordination with the relevant stakeholders, as outlined in the detailed implementation plan. Prepare documents in support of project operations processes, and support and facilitate coordination of transaction processing. Assist in coordinating and implementing ECE Project activities in line with the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP). Participate in field visits with MoE, GEOs and DEOs in Aden, Lahj and Al Dhale'e to observe classroom application and collect feedback. Maintain relationships with school administrators, teachers, mentors, the MoE/ECE Department, and GEOs officials. Provides technical support to the staff of MoE, GEOs, DEOs and School Leadership for the improvement of utilization of ECE services in target areas. Coordinates with community leaders (mainly FMCs), school teachers, school management staff and partner organizations to implement educational and child protection activities and works closely with them to improve the quality of education services Trains and coordinates the training of community stakeholders and monitors the implementation of ECE activities. Collects and analyses project related data and keeps the filing system for the ECE project to show that the ECE activities have achieved their objectives Supports all relevant MEAL activities related to planning and implementing baseline, midline and endline assessments and reporting on the same Prepares reports for the Senior Project Officer with statistical and narrative information on the progress of the project in the target governorates. Facilitate communication with all members of the CRS team, relevant staff in other departments/teams and external stakeholders as relevant. Provides technical assistance to other programs when requested by the supervisor. Supports administrative tasks such as preparing Purchase Requests Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Qualifications and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Education or in any other closely related field. 1 year of experience working I/NGOs development professional in ECE or basic education or a closely related field. Experience in monitoring and reporting of Education development programs. Strong understanding of ECE development processes. Proven experience of working with children in a responsible and caring manner. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience in the MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and information management systems. Good time management skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks Strong stakeholder service orientation with good communication and interpersonal skills Proactive, resourceful, solutions oriented and results-oriented. Ability to organize trainings, field visits, and meetings. Required Languages: Arabic and very good written and oral communication skills in English. Travel: Travel: willing and able to travel to Lahj and Al Dhale'e governorates up to 50 %.
