Action Contre la Faim provides coordinated responses in nearly 50 countries including Yemen globally within 7 field of expertise which includes Nutrition and Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Food Security, Mental Health Care Practices, Gender and Protection, Advocacy, Risk and Disaster Management and Research. ACF has been operational in Yemen since 2012 and is operational in 4 bases (Aden, Hodeida, Al khokha and Sanaa). The mission implements its activities which are centred on 3 sectors, Nutrition and Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support and Protection (MHPSS-P). For more information please visit our website. https://www.actioncontrelafaim.org/en/missions/yemen/ Job Title: Roving Energy Technician Location: Aden (with regular visits to the fields and other ACF bases) Contract duration: Six months with the possibility for renewal Basic monthly salary (taxable): 1227$ to 1468$ based on experience salary calculation (excluding other benefits offered by the organization) Direct Line Manager: Head of Logistics Department Technical/Support Managers: HQ Energy Expert Position Summary Coordinate, monitor, and improve the energy performance of all ACF facilities, while ensuring the electrical safety of staff, beneficiaries, and equipment. Part of the activities and working time may be dedicated to other NGOs Objective 1: Assess and Improve Electrical Installations Carry out electrical assessments of ACF buildings using internal tools, local regulations, and best practices. Conduct regular field visits for on-site supervision, quality control, and technical analysis of installations, including the performance of technical (electrical and / or energy component) reception of completed works executed by contractors, in coordination with programs and logistic teams Do field visit reports Design and propose works to ensure safe, stable, and compliant systems. Draft technical specifications for subcontracted rehabilitations. Prepare material lists for in-house works. Objective 2: Support Program Energy Needs Ensure that all energy components in projects are following the standard SOPs for implementation. Provide technical analysis for project proposals: needs definition, feasibility studies, system design, BOQs, contractor selection, monitoring, and handover. Support specialized energy projects (solar pumping, irrigation, desalination, HVAC, cold chain, pharmacies’ insulation, data logging….) and validate all energy-related designs and sizing. Standardize designs and BOQs technical validation and contractor selection for electrical projects. Lead internal electrification works and supervise external contractors, including regular field visits for quality control. Prepare and maintain an updated plan for evaluating the performance of solar systems across all supported health facilities. Propose and budget for new and upcoming energy projects. With the support of the DCD, liaise with all program departments to inventory energy needs and prioritize follow-up based on priorities jointly defined in a commonly drafted action plan. Objective 3: Define and Anticipate Base Energy Needs Assess and plan energy requirements for current and future bases, including cost-effective and low-carbon alternatives. Propose solutions for expansion, upgrades, and equipment failures. Conduct on-site analysis of building energy consumption using ACF tools. Identify quality suppliers, standard materials, and spare parts for rapid response. Recommend and manage critical spare part stocks. Objective 4: Capacity Building Train base logisticians to manage and report on energy infrastructure. Provide clear reporting guidelines for teams and beneficiaries in remote contexts. Train staff and users on safe energy use, troubleshooting, and basic generator maintenance. Ensure knowledge transfer and quality standards are reinforced through field visits and on-site coaching. Deliver training sessions for health facility staff and community water committees on solar system maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainable operational practices. Qualifications Needed / Required Skills:- Education: Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineer- Power. Type of professional experience requested: At least two years relevant professional experience in a relevant position preferably with international organization Good knowledge/skills in Microsoft Excel. Good team spirit and ability to work under pressure Good analytical capacity Flexibility and adaptability. Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English. Experience in logistics.
