WASH Consultant Assistant Organization: Yanabia Alkhair Foundation (YKF) Position Title: WASH Consultant Assistant Project: Restoring Dignity and Saving Lives through Integrated Cash and WASH Assistance for Vulnerable IDPs in Al Arah, Al Musaymir, and Tur Al Bahah Sub-districts of Lahj Governorate Duty Station: Targeted districts in Lahj Governorate (Tur Al-Baha, Al-Mudarabah and Ras Al-Arah) with full-time field presence Contract Type: Full-time (subject to budget availability) Number of Positions: 2 Application Deadline: 11 March 2026 Project Overview The project is implemented in partnership with the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF) to enhance the capacity of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities to meet their essential needs. The intervention combines unconditional multi-purpose cash assistance with improved Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services to ensure a safe and healthy environment. The WASH component includes rehabilitation of water wells, pipeline networks, construction and rehabilitation of sanitation facilities (latrines), sewage networks, and hygiene promotion activities. Key Responsibilities Construction Supervision: Conduct daily monitoring of contractors’ activities at project sites (excavation, pipeline installation, construction, concrete works) to ensure compliance with approved engineering designs and technical specifications. Water and Sewerage Network Supervision: Monitor installation of pipes, valves, pressure testing, and leakage detection for water and sewage systems, ensuring quality standards are met. Sanitation Facility Supervision: Oversee construction and rehabilitation of latrines in targeted locations; verify quality of materials used (plumbing, masonry, waterproofing) and compliance with specifications. BoQs Review and Quantity Verification: Review implemented Bills of Quantities (BoQs) against actual site execution and prepare daily technical progress reports, including delivered materials. Technical Quality Control: Inspect and approve construction works at different stages (underground works, concrete works, finishing works) and ensure absence of technical defects before proceeding to subsequent phases. Field Coordination: Coordinate with community committees and beneficiaries to facilitate contractors’ tasks and resolve technical or field-related challenges during implementation. Documentation and Reporting: Document completed works through photos and daily reports, and submit them to the WASH Project Officer to track progress. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure occupational health and safety standards are applied at construction sites and report any identified risks to the direct supervisor. Safeguarding Compliance: Adhere to Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) principles and the organization’s Code of Conduct during field activities and community engagement. Qualifications and Experience Education Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Experience Minimum of two (2) years of practical experience in supervising construction sites, preferably in water and sanitation network projects with NGOs or contracting companies. Technical Skills Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and technical maps. Experience in preparing daily technical progress reports. Good understanding of quality control and occupational safety standards in construction sites. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) for reporting purposes. Personal Skills High attention to technical and field details. Strong communication skills with contractors, laborers, and community committees. Ability to work in demanding field conditions and under tight deadlines. Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality. Residency Preference will be given to candidates from the targeted districts (Tur Al-Baha or Al-Mudarabah & Ras Al-Arah) to ensure consistent field presence.
